Early Settlers Story

Monday 15th December 1850

Early this morning we docked at Lyttelton harbour and all of our possessions were loaded
onto the dock from the Charlotte Jane. However, we were not there yet because we still
had one last challenge ahead of
us. We had to climb the mountains.
The trek was long and hard, my sweat ran down my back and my calf muscles
groaned in agony. I was only eleven but I had thought, ‘was it possible to die
of walking?’ Apparently God hadn’t thought so. Until what had happened the
next morning. Up ahead of me my parents hadn’t been faring much better. We
were struggling to get to paradise. The next morning tragedy struck. My
younger sister Amy died at only three years old. I had never seen my parents
cry so much. My mother had yelled to God asking why did her youngest
daughter, only a toddler, a defenceless toddler at that have to die. My father
had to drag her away from Amy’s still warm body. My father, elder sister and
I had seen there was no arguing with her and we had carried Amy’s stone cold
body to the top. I was shocked at how light she was. When we got to the top
the sight was mesmerising. We saw a swamp and decided it would be the
perfect place to raise a family and farm. My mother had come to us and said
she wanted to bury Amy here where she could always see those she loved.
We all decided to agree with her and bury Amy, so we paid our respects to
her and then left the grave with a wild flower on top. Then we had started
on the downhill trek. It was a lot faster on the way down, but just as
dangerous, if not more for there were unseen cliffs and gorges to watch out
for. But we made it to the promised flat land that God had told us about and
we decided to set up a farm beside the swamp we had seen. We all helped
to build it including my father John Smith, my mother Anne and my
elder sister Rosiland and her husband to be Jack Murphy and of course I.
Now I hear good news, that mother is pregnant. And now I here father
calling to me to stop writing in this diary and get out and help him shear
the sheep so I better go now.

This is Thomas Smith signing out.

The Beginning Of My Book Called Power Gems

I woke up, at first I could only see yellow and blue. I couldn’t breath. Something said “babo”. Then a ticking and tocking apple was in the air in front of me. Wait, apples don’t go tick, tock, tick, tock. My bed blew up. I screamed. Then there was around about 500 sounds saying in amazement and awe “ooohhh aaahhh”.

Then I heard 2 screeching meows. I looked to my right to see around about 500 minions from Despicable me with a surprised Element and Space both on their backs and about to be pushed off my dad’s desk I yelled “stop” without even realising it. The minions backed off. Element and Space jumped down. Then I heard a click and some disco music, I tried to shut my eyes because the most disgusting and funny thing was happening!

The minions were dancing, showing and wiggling their butts! I shouted “stop” again. The minions stopped. Some wheels started turning in my brain, then a lightbulb turned on. I have control over the minions! Then I was lying down on my back on their heads, I was carrying two frightened cats named Element and Space.  The minions took me down stairs and that is where my story begins…

China.
Do you want learn more about China and its cultures? Then listen
to this speech.
Have you ever wondered how silk was made in ancient times? Well China knows
the secret. Hi I’m Joseph and I’m going to tell what I know about China. China is a
country in east Asia. It’s capital is known as Beijing. The Great Wall of China was
first made out of hardened soil, stones and pebbles to keep barbarians (people
from other countries) from coming in and getting out.

Some amazing places in
China are: The Great Wall of China. The Great Wall of China which is 26 feet in
height and was opened in 206 BC ( which means Before Christ) the Great Wall of China is open every day from 7:30AM-5:30PM;

The Forbidden city. The Forbidden city was the Chinese imperial palace from the Ming Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty (from the 1420 to 1912.) It was opened in 1420 and inside is the Palace Museum.

The Terracotta Army. The Terracotta Army is a collection of terracotta sculptures representing the armies of Qin Shi Huang who was the first emperor of China. It is open from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM every day.

In conclusion I would say China is a great holiday destination. I have gone over some great places for a holiday which are the Great Wall of China the Forbidden City and Terracotta Army. Thank you.
